The last 15 months have been hard for everyone. Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions have no doubt left us all feeling a bit isolated and frustrated as we haven't always been able to see the people we love or do the things we enjoy.
At the time of writing this blog it seems there's some light at the end of the tunnel. Over 50% of Scotland's adult population have received their first vaccination and over 23% have been fully vaccinated. With the vaccination programme continuing and transmission rates falling we hope, like us, that you are starting to feel positive about the future and, like us, ready to bring some much needed joy back to the Gorbals community.
To help our community reconnect we're making £30,000 available through our Reconnect Fund to give local people, groups and organisations the chance to access funding for an idea or activity that will help bring people back together again and kick-start our famous Gorbals Community Spirit!
We've identified four priority areas that we want to address with these funds, things that research shows have suffered as a result of Covid-19:
Social isolation and loneliness;
Physical health and well-being;
Mental health and well-being; and
Income inequality and poverty.
Reconnect is our largest funding pot ever and the maximum grant award has increased too; constituted groups, organisations and projects can apply for up to £4,000.00 and local individuals can apply for up to £500.00.
Closing date for applications is Monday 31 May 2021 at 5pm. As with all Gorbals Ideas Fund money the final decision about funding will be given to the whole community, who'll vote for the ideas they feel will make the biggest difference to them, their family and the community as a whole.
You can download an application pack here or if you'd like to chat about your idea or need some help completing your application form call Jo on 0141 429 3900 or email info@gorbalsideas.org.uk.
